Chicken Shawarma

1kg skinless boneless chicken breast
2 tsp butter
Onion slices
1 garlic glove
salt
black pepper
½ tsp Arabic seven-spice mix
2 tbsp parsley
2 ½ cups rice
cloves
cardamom pods
bay leaves
pita bread cubes

Sauce

2 cups yogurt
2 minced garlic cloves
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp parsley

  1. Cook the chicken

    In a pot, melt the butter over medium heat, add the thinly sliced chicken, onion slices, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and the seven-spice mix, and stir well for about 15 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked, and finally add the parsley on top.
  2. Cook the rice

    In a pot over medium heat black pepper, cloves, cardamom pods, and bay leaves in melted butter, add salt, and rice and mix everything well, add cooking liquid (about 3 cups of stock), bring to a boil then lower heat and cover until done. It will cook for 30 minutes.
  3. Bake the bread

    Spray a baking sheet, spread bread cubes over and spray with oil. Bake in a preheated oven until crispy.
  4. Prepare the sauce

    Mix yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, and parsley, and add salt to taste.
  5. Serve

    Spread the pita bread cubes, rice, chicken, and sauce, then garnish with parsley, fried pine nuts, or pomegranate on top then serve.
