204 Killed and One Survived in the Ahmedabad Plane Crash

Tragedy Strikes Ahmedabad: Air India Plane Crash Claims 204 Lives, One Survivor Amidst Residential Area Impact

Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G.S. Malik confirmed that 204 bodies have been recovered from the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on Thursday, June 12. 

All bodies were sent for post-mortem upon recovery. There were at least 242 people on the airplane during the crash. The airline said in a statement that the plane carried 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian and seven Portuguese. 

Ahmedabad police also released a list of individuals injured from the plane crash who were present in the area; none of them were passengers on the flight. 

The Indian Medical Association confirmed the death of three Indian MBBS students in the crash in Ahmedabad, and 45 MBBS students were injured and have been hospitalized.

Ahmedabad Police Commissioner has confirmed that one passenger survived the plane crash, whose name is Ramesh Vishwaskumar Bucharvada, and he was seated in 11A during the flight. He is currently receiving medical treatment. 

The police commissioner said, "Cannot say anything about the number of deaths yet. The death toll may increase as the flight crashed in a residential area."

The cause for the crash has not been determined yet, but the plane was carrying a substantial fuel load for its long-haul flight to London, according to details from the flight tracking platform Flightradar24.
