The only goal of the match came in dramatic fashion, as China’s Wang Yudong converted a penalty in the third minute of stoppage time in the second half.
It was a quiet game overall, with both sides already out of the race for direct qualification or a play-off spot. China held onto fifth place in the group standings with nine points, while Bahrain wrapped up their campaign in sixth place with six points.
While it wasn’t the ending Bahrain hoped for, the team now shifts focus to upcoming tournaments and rebuilding for future competitions.
