Cornell University in New York has cancelled Kehlani's upcoming concert at the university because the artist has shown made pro-Palestinian statements in the past.

The university's president, Michael I. Kotlikoff, announced in a letter to the student body on Wednesday, April 23.

Kehlani was scheduled to perform on campus for the annual Slope Day on May 7, but her upcoming performance had students "angry, hurt, and confused that Slope Day would feature a performer who has espoused antisemitic, anti-Israel sentiments in performances, videos, and on social media.”

The singer has expressed her solidarity with Palestinians with her 2024 music video for 'Next 2 U', which featured her dancing in front of a Palestinian flag and the video opening with "long live the intifada".

The end of the music video features a message trying to “[honour] the names of thousands of deceased children”, but the list was too long, therefore, the artist linked to an article by Al Jazeera instead.

Recently, Green Day and Kneecap paid tribute to the Palestinians in Gaza during the recent Coachella festival, which went viral.
