People tend to think of green plants or small green creatures when they think of alien life. But new scientific research indicates that the color of life on other planets may be very different, perhaps purple. The pigments that support life are thought to be related to the environment, atmosphere and type of star of the planet the life is supported by. Although extraterrestrial life has not yet been discovered, this intriguing notion is increasing the search for life beyond Earth and upsetting some of the assumptions.
