Pakistan Closes Iran Border, Evacuates Pilgrims and Students Following Escalating Iran-Israel Conflict

Pakistan has closed its borders with Iran after Israel's multiple attacks across the country, according to official reports.
Simultaneously, Pakistan has also evacuated dozens of pilgrims and students from Iran, government officials confirmed on Sunday, June 15.
Both countries share a 905-kilometre border, which has various crossing points.
A deputy commissioner issued an official order on Sunday, stating that the border crossing in Panjgur has been closed until further notice.
The order states, "There will be no pedestrian and vehicular movement at [the] Pak-Iran border for an indefinite period."
Gwadar's officials also confirmed the closing of Gabd and Kalatuk border crossing points. Similar to Panjgur, there will be no movement of visitors or goods at these border crossings.
According to Dawn's report, quoting a senior official, the border crossing at Taftan is fully open and operational on both sides.
Pakistan's Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar shared a tweet on X, saying that the ministry evacuated 450 Pakistani pilgrims from Iran. He also ensured that the embassy in Iraq was in contact with Pakistani pilgrims to ensure their safety and a possible evacuation.
In addition to pilgrims, as many as 155 Pakistani students studying in Iranian academic institutions left for Pakistan and were expected to arrive in Pakistan through the Taftan border on Monday, June 16.
