½ cup raw short-grain rice
2 cups water
3 cups cold whole milk
½ cup caster sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
2 cups coconut milk
Crushed ice
  • Method & Directions

  1. Wash and Soak

    Rinse 1 cup of rice under cold water, then place it in a bowl and soak it in cold water for 2 hours.
  2. Add, Boil, and Stir

    After 2 hours, drain the soaked rice and add it to a saucepan with 2 cups (500 ml) of water. Place the saucepan on the stove over low heat and bring the water to a boil. Stir occasionally and let the rice cook for about 30 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed
  3. Allow it to cool

    Once the rice is cooked, remove the saucepan from the heat and allow it to cool completely
  4. Add milk and Stir

    When the rice has cooled, add 3 cups (750 ml) of cold milk, 1 cup (250 ml) of coconut milk, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1/2 cup (100 g) of sugar to the saucepan. Stir the mixture until all the ingredients are well combined
  5. Pour and Mix

    Next, pour the mixture into a blender and blend it until it is completely smooth
  6. Stain and Remove

    Once the mixture is blended, strain it through a cheesecloth to remove any remaining rice grains or lumps
  7. Serve
