Sunni Endowments Directs Worshippers to Primary and Temporary Congregational Mosques for This Year’s Eid Prayers

The Sunni Endowments General Directorate has officially announced that Eid Al Fitr 2026 prayers will be held at 6:00 AM across the Kingdom. In a notable shift from tradition, the directorate confirmed that the large-scale open-air prayer grounds typically used for the occasion will not be utilized this year.

The decision to move prayers indoors comes in response to "current circumstances," according to an official statement. While Bahraini tradition usually sees thousands gather in vast outdoor musallas, this year's congregations will be redirected to established religious facilities.

According to the directorate:

  • Main Mosques: All primary mosques across the Kingdom’s governorates will host the 6:00 AM prayer.
  • Temporary Mosques: Facilities that were designated or converted into congregational mosques specifically for the Holy Month of Ramadan will also host Eid prayers.

The directorate has advised the public to perform their prayers at their nearest local or designated mosque rather than traveling to traditional outdoor sites.

To ensure the morning proceedings are conducted smoothly and safely, officials have urged worshippers to:

  • Arrive early to secure a place within the mosque premises.
  • Follow instructions issued by mosque authorities and volunteers on-site.
  • Adhere to guidance regarding entry and exit to manage the expected high volume of attendees.
