Interior Ministry says suspects shared sensitive location data with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard using encrypted software.

Authorities in Bahrain have arrested four citizens on charges of espionage linked to Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the country’s Interior Ministry announced as regional tensions continue to rise.

In a statement, the Bahrain Ministry of Interior said the four men, aged between 22 and 36, were detained for carrying out “espionage activities” in coordination with the Iranian military organisation. Authorities also identified a fifth suspect, aged 25, who is currently abroad and remains at large.

Investigators said the first suspect played a key role in gathering intelligence under organisational instructions. According to officials, he used high-resolution photography equipment to capture images and record the geographical co-ordinates of “vital and important locations” across Bahrain.

The ministry said the collected information was then transmitted to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps through encrypted software, allegedly with the assistance of the other suspects involved in the operation.

Security officials said the investigation remains ongoing, with authorities examining the full scope of the alleged network and the potential targets that were documented.

The arrests come as Bahrain and other Gulf states continue to heighten security measures following a series of drone and missile incidents reported across the region in recent days. Officials said protecting national infrastructure and public safety remains a top priority as the situation develops.
