Strategic infrastructure project aims to reduce congestion and improve connectivity across key Bahraini transport routes.

Bahrain has officially opened a new bridge connecting the Shaikh Isa bin Salman Causeway to Avenue 105 in the Busaiteen area, a significant infrastructure milestone aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing congestion between Manama and Muharraq.

The bridge, which features two lanes in each direction, was inaugurated by Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, the Minister of Works, during a field visit where traffic on the new link was opened to motorists. Senior officials, including the undersecretary and assistant undersecretary for roads, were present to mark the occasion.

The project is designed to provide an alternate route for drivers traveling from Manama via the Shaikh Isa bin Salman Causeway directly onto Avenue 105 and the Muharraq Ring Road, thereby alleviating pressure on the heavily congested junction at Al Ghous Street near the causeway.

Municipal and traffic authorities expect the new bridge to cut travel times significantly during peak hours and improve overall connectivity between key urban and residential areas in the Capital and Northern Governorates. It also supports broader development plans to enhance Bahrain’s road network efficiency.

The swift completion of the link reflects coordinated efforts by the Ministry of Works and related agencies, which have emphasized the importance of delivering strategic infrastructure projects that address long‑standing traffic challenges in the kingdom’s busiest corridors.

Commuters and logistics operators are expected to benefit immediately as the bridge becomes fully operational, offering a smoother and more reliable route through one of Bahrain’s key transport arteries.
