Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has announced a new Passenger Registration Fee that will apply to all passengers departing from or transiting through Bahrain International Airport.
According to a decision published in the Official Gazette on 25 December 2025, a new item was added to the country’s civil aviation fee structure that imposes a BD 2 charge per passenger. This fee will be levied on both departing travellers and those transiting through Bahrain, reflecting updates to the air departure service charges.
The regulation will take effect 120 days after its publication, meaning the fee is scheduled to be implemented on 24 April 2026.
The ministry’s move to introduce the passenger registration fee aligns with broader efforts to modernise airport revenue structures and support ongoing improvements in aviation infrastructure and services. Details regarding how the fee will be collected — whether included in airline ticket pricing or paid separately during departure procedures — are expected to be clarified by authorities ahead of implementation.

The new fee comes amid Bahrain International Airport’s ongoing development as a regional aviation hub, with previous enhancements aimed at boosting connectivity and passenger experience. Over recent years, the airport has pursued expansion plans, service upgrades, and strategic partnerships to strengthen its role in global travel networks.
Travellers planning trips through Bahrain from April 2026 onward are advised to factor in the additional BD 2 charge when booking flights and arranging travel plans.
