Bahrain just confirmed a long weekend! In observance of Ashura, all ministries and government departments will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, July 5 and 6, according to a circular issued by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Monday Off Too? Yes, It’s Official
Since Saturday is already an official day off in Bahrain’s Friday–Saturday weekend, the holiday will be compensated on Monday, July 7. That means a full three-day break for many working in the public sector.
