While some breeds are known for their loyalty, others do not have the same kind of loyalty as dogs. Other dogs are overly independent, willful and intensely attuned to their own needs rather than being taught to listen and stay with the group, or have strong instincts to roam and will not listen to commands. This doesn't mean that they aren't good pets, but it does indicate that some breeds will need more training, attention and understanding. These dogs are sometimes more fond of freedom, exploration and independence than of being affectionate and having a regular home life.
