F1 2026 Bahrain Pre-Season Testing: Dates, Times, and What to Watch

Formula 1 is officially back in motion. As the countdown to the 2026 season begins, all 11 teams are heading to Bahrain International Circuit for pre-season testing—where new cars hit the track, data starts flowing, and the first hints of the pecking order begin to show.

Here’s a quick, no-nonsense guide to what’s happening.

When Is F1 2026 Pre-Season Testing?

F1 will hold two separate three-day tests in Bahrain over the next two weeks.

  • Test 1: Wednesday February 11 to Friday February 13

  • Test 2: Wednesday February 18 to Friday February 20

Both tests take place at the Bahrain International Circuit.

Daily Schedule and Track Time

Each testing day runs from 7am to 4pm (UK time), with a one-hour lunch break in the middle.

Teams are allowed to run just one car per day, meaning drivers will split track time. Over each test, every driver is expected to get around one and a half days in the car, adding up to roughly 12 hours of running per driver.

What Teams Will Be Testing

Unlike the short, behind-closed-doors shakedown in Barcelona last month, Bahrain is where things get serious.

Teams will run full test programmes that closely simulate real race weekends, helping them understand how their all-new 2026 cars behave over longer runs.

The focus won’t just be on reliability. Expect teams to start exploring performance, tyre behaviour, and how the new regulations work in real conditions.

New Rules, New Tech

The Bahrain tests are also the first real chance to see how F1’s 2026 regulations play out on track. Teams will be gathering data on features like Active Aero, Boost Mode, and Overtake Mode—even if they’re careful not to show their full hand just yet.

Don’t expect teams to reveal everything. Pre-season testing is as much about hiding pace as finding it.

Still, Bahrain is where the 2026 story truly begins.
