F1: Franco Colapinto Replaces Jack Doohan at Alpine
- Publish date: since a day

In a major move shaking up the Formula 1 landscape, Franco Colapinto will replace Jack Doohan at Alpine for the next five Grand Prixs, according to an announcement made on Wednesday, May 7.
Colapinto will take Doohan's seat starting from the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, with the team deciding to 'rotate' the seat alongside Pierre Gasly.
The news came after Alpine's team principal, Oliver Oakes, resigned with immediate effect. Executive Advisor Flavio Briatore will be taking on the team principal responsibilities.
After starting his career as a full-time F1 driver this year, Doohan has struggled to match Gasly in terms of performance. In the latest Miami Grand Prix, he retired from the race after a collision with RB's Liam Lawson on Lap 1.

Colapinto was signed as a reserve driver after being a substitute for Williams in 2024, where he gave an impressive nine-race run.
The Argentinian driver will drive alongside Gasly until the new evaluation before the British Grand Prix in July.
During this time, Doohan will be the first-choice Reserve Driver for Alpine.
