Philippine Gov’t Aids OFWs Affected by Vancouver Tredegy

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has expressed its deep condolences after a deadly shooting took place during the Lapu-Lapu Day Block Party in Vancouver, Canada, on April 26, 2025.

Calling the incident an “unspeakable tragedy,” the DMW said it is ready to support all Filipinos affected and is waiting for more updates from local authorities. The agency urged the public to keep victims and their families in their prayers.

President orders full assistance for victims

Under the direction of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the DMW confirmed that it will provide any help needed by the victims and their families. The department also emphasized its continued commitment to the welfare and safety of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

The DMW said its Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Vancouver is working closely with the Philippine Consulate General, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and Canadian police to track developments and support those impacted.
