Chicken Jalfrezi Ingredients

1/2 cup oil
3 onions, finely diced
1 bulb of garlic, grated
A big piece of ginger, grated
3 whole green chillies
2 tsp salt
2 tsp paprika powder
1 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
3 tomatoes, diced
800g boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
3 capsicums, diced
5 tbsp white vinegar
Coriander leaves for garnish

  1. Saute Onions, Garlic, and Ginger

    Add oil to a cooking pot and add onions to it. Saute onions until golden, then add ginger, garlic, and green chillies to the pot. Fry for a few minutes.
  2. Fry Chicken

    Add chicken to the pot and fry on high heat. Keep stirring the chicken pieces so that they do not burn. Fry until they turn golden on all sides.
  3. Add Tomatoes and Spices to Make Curry

    Add tomatoes to the chicken and cook until the water they release dries out and the oil starts to separate from the chicken and tomatoes. Add all the spices, vinegar, and capsicum. Stir thoroughly until everything is properly blended. Add 1/3 cup of water and stir again. Leave on medium heat for 20 minutes, so that the curry cooks properly and thickens.
  4. Garnish and Serve

    When the chicken jalfrezi is ready, stir in some coriander. Serve hot with naan bread or rice.
