An initiative has been launched with the aim of enabling inmates to continue their university studies.

According to Education Minister and Chairman of the Higher Education Council (HEC) Board of Trustees Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, the initiative, which is coordinated with the Ministry of Interior, reflects a commitment to enabling all citizens to develop their capabilities and support the development of their communities.

A total of 192 inmates from reformation and rehabilitation facilities will be registered after showing a willingness to study for their bachelor's and master’s degrees.

They will be also enrolled in courses for business management, accounting, geography, and history.
