Two Gulf races affected

The Bahrain Grand Prix was scheduled to take place from April 10 to April 12, marking the fourth round of the 2026 F1 season.

A week later, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was due to run from April 17 to April 19 in the city of Jeddah.

However, F1 organisers are reportedly preparing to remove both events from the 2026 calendar, citing concerns over security and logistics.

No replacement races planned

Sources indicate that Formula One officials are not planning to reschedule or replace the cancelled races, which would reduce the 2026 championship calendar to 22 races.

Both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are among several Gulf states that have recently faced missile and drone attacks linked to Iran, raising concerns about the safety of international sporting events in the region.

Gap in the F1 schedule

If the cancellations proceed, the season will see a five-week break between the Japanese Grand Prix, scheduled for March 27–29, and the Miami Grand Prix, set for May 1–3.

The F1 championship is currently in Shanghai for the Chinese Grand Prix as teams await further confirmation regarding the upcoming races in the Gulf.
