The beauty pageant world just made room for a new kind of queen. Ameera Hashwi, a 25-year-old law school grad from Dearborn Heights, has become the first hijab-wearing winner of Miss Wayne County 2025.
Crowned on Sunday in Detroit’s suburbs, Hashwi’s win marks a milestone moment for representation in one of the most diverse areas in Michigan.
