An agreement for the installation of five 360-kilowatt charging stations for electric vehicles in prominent locations around the kingdom has been signed by the Electricity and Water Affairs Ministry and ABB Company.

The Ministry has taken this initiative as one of its many efforts to provide the necessary infrastructure for electric vehicles.

The use of electric vehicles and installation of EV charging stations as part of a sustainable lifestyle in accordance with the worldwide shift towards sustainable and low-carbon mobility solutions is of great significance in encouraging and spreading awareness among citizens and residents.

Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan stated that the initiative will improve efforts to fulfill the national objectives set forth by the Kingdom at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in 2021, which include attaining carbon neutrality by 2060 and reducing carbon emissions by 30% by 2035.
