Bahrain Closes Airspace Following Gulf Neighbors

Bahrain announced the closure of its airspace on Monday night, June 23, following its Gulf neighbors after Iran attacked the Al-Udeid US military base in Qatar

The Kingdom decided to do so after Qatar, the UAE, and Kuwait shut their airspace after Iran's retaliatory attack following the US' attack on its nuclear sites on Saturday, June 21.

Bahrain's national carrier, Gulf Air, has cancelled flights to Amman, Baghdad, and Najaf until Friday, June 27.

Bahrain is home to the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet, which is responsible for the Gulf, Red Sea, Arabian Sea and parts of the Indian Ocean.
