The Civil Service Bureau confirmed the decision over the weekend, saying it applies to all ministries and government entities. However, essential services and emergency sectors that require physical presence are exempt.

Officials say the directive is a precautionary step aimed at ensuring public safety as tensions mount between Iran, the U.S., and Israel. Iran has declared that all U.S. interests in the region are now potential targets, prompting heightened security measures across the Gulf.

Schools Move Online Too

Bahrain’s Ministry of Education has also asked all public and private educational institutions, including kindergartens, schools, and universities, to switch to remote learning. Digital platforms will now be used to ensure classes continue without disruption.

Any schools needing tech support or guidance have been told to reach out to the ministry or the Higher Education Council through official channels.

Region on High Alert

Bahrain’s announcement comes as the region braces for further fallout. Saudi Arabia has expressed “great concern” over the U.S. strikes, while Israel has raised its alert level and temporarily closed its airspace. Meanwhile, UAE airlines have extended flight cancellations to and from Iran.

What This Means

This shift to remote work and online learning is part of Bahrain’s broader effort to stay ahead of potential security risks while ensuring government services and education continue smoothly.

As the situation develops, Bahraini authorities say they’re closely monitoring events and will take further action if needed to protect public safety.
