Bahrain Refers 14 Defendants to Criminal Court Over Alleged Spying for Iran

Bahrain’s Public Prosecution has referred 14 defendants to the Criminal Court for allegedly spying for Iran, including several fugitives currently in Iran, according to a statement from the Bahrain News Agency.

Allegations Against the Group

The defendants are accused of:

Communicating with the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to plan hostile acts against Bahrain.
Providing support and transferring funds for these operations.
Receiving military training at IRGC camps.
Broadcasting state defence secrets and spreading false information to incite public panic.
Monitoring and photographing sensitive sites for future targeting.

The cases include four separate cells, one of which involved a female defendant.

Evidence and Investigation

The Public Prosecution conducted detailed interrogations, reviewed witness testimonies, and examined technical devices used by the defendants. Some individuals provided confessions during the investigation.

Authorities confirmed that the information sent to the IRGC was later used to target buildings and facilities within Bahrain.

Next Steps

All 14 defendants have been ordered held in custody pending trial before the High Criminal Court, as the prosecution determined the crimes were proven.
