American Basketball Player Sentenced to 10 Years in Jail in Bahrain

An American basketball player has been sentenced to 10 years in prison at the High Criminal Court in Bahrain.

The player had been arrested by the Bahraini police earlier this year for transporting and distributing marijuana. The court also penalized the player with a fine of BD 5,000.

The player was playing for a local basketball club in Bahrain.

However, the topic court acquitted a woman involved in the case because she presented the argument that she did not know about the shipment the player was transporting.

The woman was accused of taking advantage of her relationship with employees at a foreign company to facilitate the shipment of the drugs. However, the company had reported the contents of the package upon its arrival to the police.

The Central Investigation Department started an investigation and traced back the shipment to the basketball player and the woman.

The basketball player confessed to consuming marijuana, but he denied the allegation of distributing drugs. He also confessed that he had bought drugs for personal use and had paid the woman to assist him.

They explained that they had used the address of an employee from the foreign company to reduce shipping costs.
