Iran Reveals Supreme Leader's Health Status for the First Time

For the first time, the Iranian government has officially disclosed details about the health of its new supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei. The leader was reportedly injured during the opening strikes of Trump’s Operation Epic Fury, which led to the tragic deaths of Khamenei’s father and wife.

According to The Wall Street Journal, a government official stated that Khamenei, who has been absent from public view since the beginning of the conflict, is now in good health.

Despite his prolonged absence from public appearances, official statements have been broadcasted on state media. Reports about his condition have varied widely, but the latest official account provides clarity on his health status:

“Yet the chief of protocol for the supreme leader’s office, Mozaher Hosseini, said on Friday that Khamenei is in ‘complete health,’ stressing that he has only been ‘marginally injured’ on his foot and lower back and hit by ‘a small piece of shrapnel behind the ear.’”

The enemy is spreading all kinds of rumors and false claims. They want to see him and find him, but people should be patient and not rush. He will speak to you when the time is right,” Hosseini told a crowd in Tehran.

Previous international reports suggested that Khamenei was receiving treatment for severe burns and might undergo surgery. These reports indicated that he has resorted to using low-tech methods, such as handwritten and hand-delivered messages, to communicate commands to avoid any interception by Israeli or U.S. intelligence regarding his location.

Regional and Gulf media have summarized the latest Iranian descriptions of the supreme leader’s health, highlighting that there are “no indications of a serious deterioration in his condition.”

An official reportedly stated that medical examinations confirmed that Mojtaba Khamenei’s condition was completely stable, adding that his injury did not require complex surgery. Furthermore, ongoing medical monitoring has been described as routine, aimed at ensuring his well-being.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian disclosed on Thursday that he recently met with Mojtaba Khamenei at an undisclosed location. According to Pezeshkian, the encounter was a long and productive discussion, lasting for two-and-a-half hours, as noted by state media.

Describing the nature of the meeting, Pezeshkian shared, “What stood out more than any other topic in the meeting was the way of dealing, the type of outlook, and the humble and deeply friendly manner of conduct by the leader of the revolution.” He further characterized Ayatollah Khamenei’s leadership approach as “a model based on taking responsibility, being close to the people, and truly listening to issues and problems.”

Western officials and intelligence agencies continue to analyze who is ultimately steering the country’s affairs. Speculations persist about a growing divide between the IRGC military apparatus and the Islamic Republic’s civilian leadership. However, as with much of the information emerging from inside Iran, these reports remain unconfirmed and largely speculative, based on limited access to credible sources within the country.
