Bahrain Grand Prix 2026 Moves to Malaysia This October

Formula 1 fans in the GCC and around the world have an exciting update for the 2026 season. The Bahrain Grand Prix, which was cancelled earlier this year, will now take place at the famous Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia from October 2 to 4, 2026.

A New Date on the F1 Calendar

The highly anticipated race will now sit perfectly between the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix. Originally, the Bahrain GP was scheduled for April 10 to 12 at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir. However, the race, along with the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Jeddah, had to be cancelled due to unrest in the region.

A Great Solution for Racing Fans

This fantastic update is wonderful news for motorsport lovers. The decision comes after a successful agreement between Formula 1, the FIA, and the governments of both Bahrain and Malaysia. Thanks to this partnership, fans will still get to enjoy this major race, while the rest of the 2026 F1 schedule remains the same.

The Sepang circuit is a favorite track for many. Making its F1 debut in 1999, it is well-known for its challenging layout, enthusiastic fans, and sudden weather changes, promising a highly entertaining race weekend.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the FIA, also added: “I am incredibly proud of the collaboration that will enable Malaysia to host the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix at the iconic Sepang circuit later this year.”
