Manama, the capital of Bahrain, has been designated as the Gulf Tourism Capital for 2024. This announcement came during the 7th meeting of tourism ministers from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries held in Jabal Al-Akhdar, Oman.

Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Bahrain's Minister of Industry and Commerce and Acting Minister of Tourism, led the delegation and stressed Bahrain's role in supporting regional tourism efforts. The focus is on enhancing intra-GCC tourism, collaborating with regional and international tourism entities, advancing the industry, and embracing sustainable tourism practices.

The meeting also addressed critical topics, including global tourism sector recovery, bolstering Gulf tourism resilience, ensuring sustainability, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the tourism sector.
