HBO has announced the lead actors for its highly anticipated Harry Potter TV series, selecting Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. All three are new to the screen, marking a fresh start for the iconic trio.

Casting Directors and Showrunners Praise Young Talent

Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod, who also serves as an executive producer, shared their excitement over the casting. They described the search as “extraordinary” and praised the impressive skills of the new leads.

“We are thrilled to introduce our Harry, Hermione, and Ron,” the team said. They also thanked the tens of thousands of young actors who auditioned, highlighting the wealth of talent discovered through the process.

Faithful Adaptation Streaming Exclusively on HBO Max

The new series will closely follow J.K. Rowling’s original books, dedicating each season to one of the novels. It will be available only on HBO Max, including in upcoming markets like Germany, Italy, and the UK.

Behind the Scenes: The Team Bringing Magic to TV

Francesca Gardiner writes and executive produces the series, with Mark Mylod directing multiple episodes. Other executive producers include J.K. Rowling herself, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films. Warner Bros. Television is also involved in the production.
