Bahrain's Miss Universe 2023 Prepares for Global Stage in El Salvador

Nineteen-year-old Lujane Yacoub, crowned Miss Universe Bahrain 2023, is set to represent her country on the international stage in El Salvador on Nov. 18. The Miss Universe qualifying pageant, introduced in Bahrain in 2021, has quickly gained prominence.

Yacoub, the youngest contestant in this year's Miss Universe Bahrain competition, previously secured the first runner-up position in 2022. Her journey involves extensive training and travel, including a month in the Philippines for preparations with the Miss Universe team. As she approaches the global competition, Yacoub expresses the honor of representing the entire GCC, emphasizing the responsibility to address crucial issues and showcase Bahrain on the world stage.

Beyond the glamour of the pageant, Yacoub is on a three-fold mission. Drawing from her personal experience with a learning disability, she volunteers as a children's art teacher, aiming to support young artists facing similar challenges. Additionally, she runs the Hero Project, highlighting individuals making a positive impact globally, and serves as Bahrain's first Smile Train ambassador, raising awareness for cleft lip and palate issues. With plans for university in the UK next year, Yacoub remains focused on her advocacy work and upcoming movie roles after the competition, highlighting the transformative nature of her unique gap year.
