Bahrain's NPRA Has Issued Over 50,000 E-Passports Since March

Over 50,000 e-passports have been issued for Bahraini citizens since its launch in March, said Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA).

E-passports for Bahraini citizens were launched on March 20th to advance digital transformation in the Kingdom.

The NPRA is accepting e-passport applications through their website, government e-portal, or by visiting their service centers in Muharraq and Isa Town with an appointment made through the MAWAEID app.

The new e-passport contains modern security technologies that are being used for the first time. It contains an electronic chip that improves Bahrain's global ranking and allows Bahraini travellers to easily obtain various visas from around the world.

The data page for the e-passport contains seven layers, which comprise the highest security standards ever.
