Bahrain's Winfred Yavi Makes History With World Title Win

Winfred Yavi from Bahrain closely followed world record holder Beatrice Chepkoech throughout most of the women's 3,000 meters steeplechase race.

In the final 400 meters, Yavi surged past the Kenyan competitor to capture the gold medal at the World Athletics Championships held on Sunday.

At 23 years old, Yavi crossed the finish line with a world-leading time of 8 minutes and 54.29 seconds, which ranks as the fourth fastest in history, securing her the win.

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old Chepkoech finished in 8 minutes and 58.98 seconds, earning the silver medal.
