Two Meteor Showers Set to Light Up Bahrain's Skies on These Dates

Two spectacular meteor showers will light up Bahrain skies this year: The Leonid Meteor Shower and the Geminids Meteor Shower.

The Leonid meteor shower is annually active in November and it usually peaks around November 17th and 18th. The shower is called Leonids because its radiant lies in the constellation Leo.

The Leonids occur when the Earth passes through the debris left by Comet Tempel-Tuttle. The comet takes around 33 years to make one orbit around the Sun.

Meanwhile, the predicted peak date for the Geminids Meteor Shower is December 14th. However, the overall duration of the meteor shower is from November 19th to December 24th.

You can watch the two meteor shows without any special equipment or a lot of skills, all you need is a clear sky and patience. So, find a secluded viewing spot, away from the city lights, and don't forget to bring a blanket or a comfortable chair with you because meteor watching can be a waiting game.

Pro Tip: Be sure to give yourself at least an hour of observing time because your eyes may take 15 to 20 minutes to get used to the dark.
