This seasonal ban, which began in April, was introduced to protect marine life and support Bahrain’s environmental goals.

The council emphasized that the General Directorate of Marine Resources is dedicated to preserving marine biodiversity and ensuring sustainable fishing practices according to global standards.

The regulation aims to balance economic benefits with long-term sustainability of marine resources, ensuring that Bahrain’s fishing industry thrives responsibly.

The fishing restriction was implemented under Decision No. (2) of 2024, aiming to protect fish stocks, restore ecological balance, and rehabilitate Bahrain’s marine ecosystem.

Officials stated that such efforts directly safeguard marine life for future generations while supporting the Kingdom’s commitment to environmental protection.
