Bahrain a Favored Destination for Indian Weddings in 2023

Bahrain is a favored wedding destination for Indian families in 2023, according to Indian External Affairs Ministry’s consular, passports, visa, and overseas Indian affairs secretary Dr Ausaf Sayeed.

“Bahrain has proven over the past that it could host great destination weddings, there is more demand now, and it requires planning and organization for the industry to grow,” Dr Sayeed said during a meeting with a Bahraini delegation in the Indian capital New Delhi.

“The kingdom provides glamour, it’s also top-of-the-top in hospitality, rich in civilisation and urbanisation, and has distinguishable venues that are unmatched elsewhere,” he said, adding that 2023 could see more partnerships with the Bahraini government to promote weddings at its spectacular venues.

Bahrain hosted eight Indian weddings in November and December 2019, which directly contributed $5.5 million to the national economy, before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic put 10 planned wedding arrangements on hold.

The wedding of the son of Indian businessman Sushil Mantri, of Bangalore in 2018 at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay was among the biggest weddings in Bahrain. The event attracted more than 800 guests who travelled in a special chartered flight from various Indian cities, including Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai, and from other parts of the world.

The country has been hosting Indian weddings since 2017.
