Bahrain Creates Plans to Become a Top Global Tourist Destination

Bahrain's tourism authority, BTEA, is all set to announce significant initiatives to cement its place as a top global tourist destination. This declaration comes after Manama was chosen as the Gulf tourism capital for 2024 during a meeting of tourism ministers from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

This designation recognizes Bahrain's significant contributions to the growth of the Gulf tourism sector. Bahrain's forward-thinking approach in realizing the potential of tourism as a sector that can boost economic growth and sustainable development played a vital role in earning this honor.

Dr. Nasser Ali Qaedi, CEO of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), expressed immense pride in this achievement. He emphasized the kingdom's commitment to the tourism sector and its role in driving sustainable development. Significant investments have been made in expanding tourism infrastructure, refining services, and establishing high-quality facilities to attract a larger global tourist audience.

Qaedi highlighted the collaborative efforts with public and private sector partners and their contribution to the kingdom's impressive tourism growth. Last year, Bahrain welcomed around 10 million tourists, surpassing its targets by an impressive 20%. The BTEA is planning to launch high-quality tourism initiatives and exclusive travel packages tailored for GCC citizens and residents to enhance tourism appeal further.
