Bahrain is gearing up to launch its first international helicopter service — and it’s heading straight to Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

The new route is part of the country’s National Aviation Strategy 2026–2027, a roadmap designed to level up Bahrain’s civil aviation sector and make regional travel faster and more efficient.

The upcoming helicopter service will connect Bahrain directly to Dammam, offering a quicker alternative to traditional travel between the two sides of the Gulf.

Officials say the move is about convenience and speed — cutting travel time while opening up more flexible transport options for business and leisure travelers.

The helicopter route ties into broader upgrades at Bahrain International Airport, as the kingdom works to position itself as a stronger regional and global aviation hub.

Under the strategy, Bahrain plans to expand its number of destinations from 66 to 100 by 2030 — a move aimed at boosting tourism, trade, and overall economic growth.
