Key Developments: Railway Plan to Connect Saudi Arabia and Bahrain

Bahraini transport officials met senior officials from GCC Railways Authority to discuss the key developments on the railway line which will first link Bahrain and Saudi Arabia via King Hamad Causeway and then connect to the wider GCC railway network.

Hussein Ali Yaqoub, Assistant Undersecretary of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, received the GCC Railways Authority delegation led by Nasser Hamad Al Qahtani and Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Samaani.

The meeting reviewed the developments of the transitional phase of the King Hamad Causeway project, advancements in the preparation of the railway track on the Bahraini side, and the development of the King Hamad International Station in Al Ramli area.

The planned railway network is expected to enhance connectivity and travel within the GCC countries, as well as create opportunities for economic and trade collaboration.

It is expected that the project will create new jobs, boost economic growth, and provide a fast, efficient, and environmentally friendly mode of transport for both passengers and cargo.

The 25-kilometer King Hamad Causeway will be used to facilitate the GCC Railway Project.
