Bahrain Holds a Special Event Marking Earth Day

Bahrain marked Earth Day by holding a special event focusing on the environment and mental health on Saturday, April 29th.

The one-day free event was held at the Water Garden City Beach, Seef District, and backed by the Capital Governorate. It started at 4 pm.

The highlight was around 2,000 LEDs laid out in the shape of Bahrain's map with the help of 1,200 participants and 140 volunteers.

The Earth Day Health and Wellness event featured free medical screening, panel discussions focusing on mental health, and a tree plantation ceremony.

"This year's event builds up on Manama being recognized as a 'Healthy City' by the World Health Organisation in 2018, and now the Capital Governorate is expanding environmental awareness with health and wellness," Capital Governorate's director of information and follow-up Yusuf Lori previously told the GDN.

Earth Day is globally celebrated on April 22nd every year to demonstrate support for environmental protection.
