Bahrain Rises to 6th Place in 2025 Arab Food Security Index

Bahrain just landed the fourth spot in the Gulf and sixth in the Arab world in the 2025 Arab Food Security Index by World Population Review. With a score of 70.3, the Kingdom outperformed several regional players — a sign that its long-term food strategy is paying off.

What the Index Measures

The ranking looked at 12 Arab countries, checking three major factors:

  • How well each country can provide food,

  • The sustainability of their reserves, and

  • The strength and efficiency of their supply chains.

On top of the list is the UAE (75.2), followed by Qatar (72.4), Oman (71.2), Saudi Arabia (69.9), and Jordan (66.2). Yemen and Sudan came in last.

So What Pushed Bahrain Up?

It all comes down to consistent investment and smarter planning. Bahrain has been:

  • Boosting local food production,

  • Strengthening supply chains,

  • Expanding agricultural and food partnerships, and

  • Improving inventory and stock management.

All these efforts have helped create a more resilient food system that can handle pressure — whether from global disruptions or rising demand.
