Crossing Bahrain–Saudi Border Gets Pricier as King Fahd Causeway Updates Fees

If you regularly drive between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, here’s a heads-up. The King Fahd Causeway Authority has announced updated crossing fees, set to take effect on February 18, 2026, as part of efforts to upgrade services and improve the overall travel experience.

New Crossing Fees Explained

Under the revised pricing, one-way crossing fees will be charged as follows (approximate amounts in Bahraini dinars):

  • BD 3.52 for cars and motorcycles

  • BD 5.53 for minibuses

  • BD 7.04 for large buses

  • BD 0.70 per ton for trucks

The authority says the update is aimed at supporting service improvements on one of the region’s busiest cross-border routes.

Who Won’t Be Affected

Not everyone will see a change. The authority confirmed that existing fees remain unchanged for:

  • Persons with disabilities

  • Students

  • Daily frequent travellers

So if you fall under these categories, your current rates stay the same.

Travel Tips for Motorists

Drivers and passengers are encouraged to use the causeway’s digital services and keep an eye on the authority’s official channels for the latest updates on procedures and fees—especially if you cross often.
