Bahrain Tops List As World's Most Calorie-Consuming Nation

With an astounding average daily calorie intake of 4,012, Bahrain has been named the world's highest calorie-consumer.

This according to research done by the Oxford University-based company OurWorldInData, which compiled figures on calorie consumption by country from the United Nations.

With 3,868 and 3,850 daily calories, respectively, the US and Ireland are not far behind.

These aren't the only countries that consume a lot of calories; Belgium, Turkey, Austria, Germany, Italy, Qatar, and Romania also made it to the top 10 list.

The UK Public Health Service advises 2,000 calories for women and 2,500 calories for males, while the US FDA recommends 2,000 calories per day on average.
