Driving licenses of these countries are valid in UAE

Driving in the UAE is governed by legislation designed to ensure the safety of residents and tourists from all over the world. Everyone may quickly obtain resources and information about the city to assist them to follow the rules.  

One can have several inquiries about your driver's license if you've just moved to Dubai and are now a resident. Dubai residents from these 49 countries may convert their foreign driver's licenses into acceptable local ones.

Which Countries are eligible to convert their foreign driver's license?

Having a license from one of the following nations after you are a resident of Dubai, makes it easier for you to switch it for a UAE license without passing any difficult driving tests. However, if you're on Visit Visa, the rulings and processes are completely different and the above doesn't apply. 

What are the required documents?

  1. Original driving license from the exceptional countries (Holders of paper driving licenses must submit a letter from the consulate)
  2. Electronic eye test
  3. Original valid Emirates ID
  4. Legalized translation of the license if it was not in English or Arabic (check the table in terms and conditions)

For residents with a visa issued in another emirate (the company has a branch in Dubai and the customer works there)

  1. Original valid Emirates ID
  2. Electronic eye test
  3. Trade license copy of both branches (Dubai and other Emirate branches)
  4. Letter from the company certifying that the customer works in the Dubai branch

For exchanging Singapore driving license

  1. Knowledge Test result

Customers with diplomatic passports

  1. Diplomatic passport + copy
  2. Original driving license
  3. Electronic eye test
  4. Letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs valid for at least 6 months from the date of submission
  5. Diplomatic card for embassies, consulates, and international organizations instead of Emirates ID.

Customers having a license from exception countries but whose nationality is not from the listed countries

  1. Knowledge test result
  2. Road test result.
