Free Starlink Wi-Fi is Coming to Gulf Air Flights

Streaming, scrolling, and staying connected at 35,000 feet is about to get easier. Gulf Air has announced a new partnership with SpaceX’s Starlink to bring high-speed, free Wi-Fi to its flights, marking a major upgrade for passengers flying with Bahrain’s national carrier.

Starlink Installations Start Mid-Year

Gulf Air says installation is expected to begin later this year, with the first aircraft going live around mid-year, pending regulatory approvals. The airline confirmed that Airbus A320 aircraft will be the first to receive Starlink connectivity.

The rollout timeline will depend on aircraft-specific approvals, as each model requires separate certification before the service can be activated.

Free Internet for All Passengers

Once live, Starlink Wi-Fi will be free of charge for Gulf Air passengers. After the initial launch on A320s, the airline plans to expand the service across its entire fleet.

The move is part of Gulf Air’s broader effort to modernise the onboard experience and offer faster, more reliable connectivity on every flight.

A Growing Trend in Gulf Aviation

Starlink’s in-flight internet has been gaining traction globally, powered by SpaceX’s satellite network of roughly 8,000 satellites. Major international airlines have already signed on, and adoption in the Gulf is accelerating.

Qatar Airways became the region’s first airline to introduce Starlink in 2024, followed by Emirates and Flydubai. Gulf Air now joins the list, bringing the technology to more travellers in the region.

What This Means for Flyers

For passengers, it’s a simple win: faster internet, no extra fees, and a smoother flying experience—whether you’re replying to emails, scrolling social media, or watching content in the air.

With Gulf Air operating around 40 aircraft and expanding its fleet, the airline is clearly betting on connectivity as a key part of modern travel.
