Bahrain’s Southern Region Municipal Council has approved new working hours for commercial establishments located inside residential neighborhoods. The goal is simple: keep things organized and give residents a calmer environment, especially at night.

Cafes and Shops Get Midnight Cutoff

Under the new schedule, restaurants, cafes, boutiques, and similar businesses can operate from 5am until 12 midnight. These are the spots that usually stay open late, and the rule aims to prevent 24-hour operations that disturb residents.

Workshops and Garages Face Earlier Closing

Garages, workshops, scrap yards, and other service-based activities must now follow stricter hours, operating from 7am to 7pm. These businesses tend to create noise and traffic, so the earlier cutoff is meant to keep neighborhoods more peaceful.

Exceptions for Essential Services

Essential businesses like pharmacies are exempt from the rule, ensuring residents still have access to urgent needs at any time.

Why the Change?

The council highlighted several reasons behind the decision: maintaining peace in residential areas, reducing traffic and late-night activity, and improving overall cleanliness. The move is also meant to stop businesses from ignoring time regulations and operating around the clock.
