Corinthia Gulf Club Opens to the Puplic at Gewan Island

On November 22, 2022, H.E. Mr. Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali, Minister of Culture and Sports, officially opened the Corinthia Gulf Club at Gewan Island in the presence of H.E. Mr. Turki bin Mohammed Al-Khater, Chairman of the United Development Company (UDC), Mr. Ibrahim Jassim Al-Othman, President, CEO, and Member of the Board of the UDC, and other top UDC and Corinthia officials.

Within a total facility area of 57,980 square meters, the golf course's nine holes are distributed over vast greens measuring 32,000 square meters. These greens are surrounded by 616 trees and 96 palm trees and are decorated with two large lakes. Until the main facility inside the Corinthia Hotel is finished, the golf club also offers a temporary building to accommodate players. The existing structure features a majlis and a rooftop terrace in addition to restrooms and lockers for keeping personal things.

The opening of UDC's brand-new, cutting-edge sports facility fits in with its efforts to enhance and diversify the recreational and sporting offerings at its two most prominent projects, The Pearl and Gewan Islands, in order to offer an integrated residential and leisure experience that satisfies the aspirations of all locals, guests, and tourists alike. Additionally, UDC recently unveiled a number of additional facilities and attractions at Pearl Island that were planned to open concurrently with the World Cup planning.

H.E. Mr. Turki bin Mohammed Al-Khater made the following statements about the opening: "The opening of Corinthia Golf Club fulfills UDC's sustainable growth strategy which aims at developing the hospitality and entertainment sectors, given the promising prospects they hold for The Pearl and Gewan Islands, in light of the increase in visitors and demand for UDC properties and investments, which in turn drives UDC to provide comprehensive entertainment facilities and services."

The opening of the Corinthia Golf Club, according to Mr. Ibrahim Jassim Al-Othman, "confirms that our projects and developments are moving forward in full force as planned and demonstrate the breadth and comprehensiveness of our entertainment vision through integrated facilities and leisure destinations, which include the Corinthia Hotel Gewan Island and its annex beach club, the air-conditioned Crystal Walkway and seaside promenade, and of course the recently finished Corinthia Golf Club."

"We are thrilled to be unveiling the next phase of the larger Corinthia development in Doha, adding a new level to our launch in the wake of the Corinthia Yacht Club.", said Mr. Matthew Dixon, managing director of the Corinthia Doha.

The Pisani family established Corinthia, a growing chain of luxury hotels, in Malta in 1962. Over the years, the business expanded into a global investor, developer, and operator of hotels and real estate.
