The goal? Attract more tourists and business travelers from the Gulf region and boost Uzbekistan’s economy through tourism.

Big Tourism Goals for 2025

Uzbekistan isn’t just aiming for a small increase in visitors, it’s setting ambitious targets. By the end of 2025, the country hopes to welcome nearly 15.8 million international tourists. On the home front, they’re expecting around 40 million domestic trips, encouraging locals to explore more of their own country.

To make this happen, nearly 400 new tour operators are expected to launch nationwide. These will offer everything from cultural experiences to eco-tourism and adventure travel, giving visitors more options and better service.

New Initiatives to Promote Travel

Uzbekistan is also rolling out new programs to encourage travel. One of them is the launch of International Tourism Week, held every November. It’s designed to bring together tourism experts, businesses, and government agencies to highlight what Uzbekistan has to offer.

There’s also the “Travel Around Uzbekistan!” campaign. On the second weekend of every month, people are encouraged to travel locally, whether with family, friends, or colleagues. The aim is to increase weekend travel, support hotels and local businesses, and promote a culture of discovery.

These initiatives are part of a strategy to spread tourism benefits across the country, not just in popular spots.

Tourism at the Heart of Uzbekistan’s Economy

Since 2016, Uzbekistan has focused on turning tourism into a key economic driver. The government set clear targets: attract 15 million tourists annually and grow tourism-related exports to $5 billion by 2030.

To support this vision, the country has been investing in airports, transport links, and heritage site restorations. There’s also a focus on training hospitality workers and modernizing tourism services.

What This Means for Gulf Travelers

The new visa-free access for Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman makes Uzbekistan an even more attractive option for Gulf travelers looking for culture, history, and adventure. It also strengthens Uzbekistan’s presence in the competitive Middle East travel market.

As infrastructure and services continue to improve, visitors can expect smoother, more enjoyable experiences. The country’s efforts, combining easier entry, better facilities, and creative travel campaigns, are setting the stage for Uzbekistan to become a top travel destination in Central Asia.
