BTEA Says 14 Int'l Weddings Will Be Held in Bahrain in Q1 2023

The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) announced that 14 weddings from families from different countries will be held in the country during the first three months of 2023.

"BTEA is promoting Bahrain as a unique destination for weddings and other occasions from Asia, Africa, Australia, and the Americas, attracting their citizens and expatriates alike," CEO Nasser Qaedi said.

The expected 14 weddings are from India, Pakistan, China, Australia, the US, the UK, Canada, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, and others, Qaedi added.

He stressed that BTEA had multiplied its efforts to attract more weddings from various continents to help achieve a recovery of wedding tourism during 2023 through the "Island Wedding" initiative.

The initiative provides several offers that attract families and tourists worldwide.

Between 2017 and 2022, BTEA hosted over 54 weddings, with an average of 370 attendees per wedding.

Earlier this month, Indian External Affairs Ministry's consular, passports, visa, and overseas Indian affairs secretary, Ausaf Sayeed, said that Bahrain is a favored wedding destination for Indian families in 2023.

Bahrain hosted eight Indian weddings in November and December 2019, which directly contributed $5.5 million to the national economy, before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic put 10 planned wedding arrangements on hold.
